A Licencing application has been received on consultation from Wilts Council, with a response date of 13 May (ie before the next PC meeting).

This is for Gem Festival in Charlton Park on the same weekend as Existance 13-15 June. Physically there is room for both - they will access their areas off different roads - one of the A429, the other off the B4040. But noise and music aren't physically separable!

Gem Festivals activities close at midnight on both nights Fri/Sat - music, alcohol and food. As the organizer has said to us, they "attract a sporty crowd – we’re a music and fitness brand, operate run clubs all over the UK where lots of our tickets are sold so it is less of a "late night crowd” than other festivals".

They are offgering some benefits:
• They are offering some free tickets.
• Preferential staffing by local people of paid bar work and steward roles (staff must have correct training / qualifications – standard bar stuff).
• Usually they charge traders £1000+ to pitch up their stalls, but local businesses and traders can trade for free on site – (not to alcohol providers but food, coffee, tuck shops etc all welcome)
• Lastly, they are looking to work with local suppliers of the following:
o Scaffolding hire
o Purchasing old furniture / decorations like bunting etc
o Portaloo & shower hire
o Water & irrigation hire
o And many other items – "please do get in touch if you believe your product or services may be of interest and they will get straight back to you".
Anyone interested in the work or trading can begin to contact [email protected] to put their names and businesses forward

An additional PC meeting has been arranged for Fri 2 May, 7pm, for the PC to decide its response. The organizer will be attending to explain the event and to answer anyone's questions.
